Have an NC driver’s license or ID? register online through myNCDMV — free, no office visit needed.

No NC license or ID? mail or drop off a paper voter registration form with the county Board of Elections below — the county’s Elections page above has the download.

Deadline: 25 days before an election, by state law. Miss it and you can still register and vote in one visit during the early-voting period.

Voting in person: bring photo ID. If you don’t have an acceptable one, ask the DMV for a free no-fee ID before Election Day.

Not sure if you’re already registered, or where: use the state’s voter search tool.

What to expect: whether you register online or by mail, it routes through the county Board of Elections below — expect a follow-up only if something on your application needs fixing.
